You know what they say, GFFs: breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And also, in my humble opinion, the most scrumdiddlyumptious (after cake, obvs). But its not always the easiest to find gluten-free, because, well, bread. *Shrug*

Luckily for us, though, there are some shamazing breakfast spots in Amsterdam that are not only friendly for us gluten-avoiderers, but downright feast-worthy. Check them out below.

How do you like your eggs in the morning? However you like ’em, Omelegg serves them. Let’s begin with the omelettes, since that’s Omelegg’s specialty and, on the whole, are gluten-free. Fluffy, soft, buttery, perfectly seasoned… Honestly, the most wonderful omelette I think I’ve ever tasted. You’re not short on choice, either. There’s a menu full of tasty options for your omelette, or you can build your own.

But for those travelling with you who don’t mind a bit of gluten, it isn’t just omelettes on the menu. Croissants, burgers and sandwiches – they will be spoilt for choice!

Omelegg is popular with travellers and locals alike, so be prepared to wait a little while for a table. But I promise you, the wait is worth it!

Pancakes Amsterdam

The first thing you need to know about this place is that the condiment tray on each table contains icing sugar, cinnamon sugar, maple syrup and honey. Now, I realise you probably dont even need to read on at this point; that fact alone probably has you booking a flight to Amsterdam already. But theres more…

Pancakes. If you dont like pancakes, I kindly ask you to leave now (you can return once you have tried pancakes and realised the error of your ways). Sweet, savoury, syrup, lemon, chocolate, bacon, cream however you top them, whether you like them thin and crepe-like or thick and fluffy American-style, pancakes are always a winner. And Pancakes Amsterdam wins. Their dutch pancake can be made gluten free – their special mix is made with buckwheat. You can choose from a list of toppings as long as the queue of hungry folks outside the door. And make sure you do arrive hungry because they sure dont skimp on the portion size. Just one more reason to love em.

Happy travelling and happy eating!
